There are multiple ways that users can reset their passwords.  Please see each section and follow the instructions for the header that best matches your situation.

Topic

Due to information security concerns with generative AI and spoofing, we are changing our password reset process for remote Password Change Requests. As always, users can use the self-service password change tool: https://passwordreset.gonzaga.edu without any additional steps. The Password Reset page connects you to the Microsoft account page what will verify your identity through multi-factor authentication. This is a safe and effective way to change or reset your GU password, and you'll find detailed instructions at the website.

Prerequisites

You must have an active Gonzaga University email account.

Instructions

If you know your current password

If you know your current password, please go to https://passwordreset.gonzaga.edu and click the Change Password button. Enter your current password, then enter your new password twice. Immediately afterwards, please log out of your computer and log back in to apply the new password.

If you forgot your password or it has expired

If you do not know or do not have access to your current password but have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, visit https://passwordreset.gonzaga.edu and click the Reset Password button. This will send a reset link to your alternative email on file.

If you're unable to reset your password using the website, you will either have to visit one of our offices in person: Foley Library lower level 7 am to 5pm OR Next Gen Tech Bar in Hemmingson 8am to 5pm OR you can call in at 509-313-5550. If you call in, there are additional verification requirements — you will be required to join a video chat and show us a valid ID, such as your Student ID or State Issued ID. We are unable to accept emailed pictures of Identification Documentation as these do not help us verify your identity at the time of the request.
