Accessing MyMedia (Kaltura)

Topic

Kaltura provides a personal repository to store your videos and audio recordings. There are several ways to access your content.

Instructions

Outside Canvas

To create and access all your content (videos/audios) visit Kaltura's My Media: https://mymedia.gonzaga.edu, this serves as your personal media repository. On this website, you are also able to access more tools, such as; captions, editing, transcriptions, quizzes, etc

In Canvas

Depending on your Canvas role in a course (instructor, student, TA, etc.), you will have access to different tools and different editing permissions. Instructors will most likely encounter the rich content editor window when adding content to their course, or posting an announcement. Students, on the other hand, will often view the rich content editor window when posting a discussion board thread or submitting a text entry assignment.

No matter how you come across the rich content editor window or whatever post you are trying to create (announcement, discussion board thread, content, etc.) in Canvas, you can easily access Kaltura's My Media feature there and add videos or audio to your post.

1. Open the item and click the Edit button or Reply button if you are a student submitting a discussion post

HINT: If you are not able to see the Add Content button, make sure you expand the content editor options by clicking on the arrows shown below:

2. In the RCE, click on the plugin icon and select Embed Kaltura Media (click the View All option if you do not see Kaltura)

3. Your Kaltura account will open in a pop-up window where you can see all of your videos – click on the Embed button next to the video you want to add to the area:
